The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
Five links Friday: March 29
I spend a lot of time online. These are five of the top things I came across this week:
1. This blog on how people sit at meetings and what it means was by far the funniest thing I've read in a while. A friendly stuff bear demonstrates each position. If you've ever been to a meeting you didn't want to be at or hosted a meeting you knew people didn't want to attend, you can relate.
2. This week 2.7 million people changed their profile picture on Facebook to a pink equal sign on a red background in support of marriage equality. That article shows a map of where those 2.7 million people live in the U.S. This link shows my opinion on social activism in general. Also, this Onion article was the best thing written on the subject all week.
3. Everybody should be on the news at least once in their lifetime. This lady shows why .She should be on the news a few more times. Hail storms are no joke.
4. After Florida Gulf Coast became the first 15-seed to win two games at the NCAA tournament, Dunk City became a thing. Then it became a trademark and is probably on its way to becoming a law suit . And a tattoo .
5. Who doesn't want to watch a baby giraffe stand up for the first time?
