The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
I have a new zip code.
For the past year, I've been working on my master's from an online university and I need an internship to finish my degree, so I moved to Moscow to knock out that requirement at the University of Idaho.
My degree is in sports management, which yes, is a real degree. It's cool because it's a lot like business management, but all the examples are sports related and you just read about sports stuff all day, not a bad way to go.
I got all moved up to Moscow yesterday. The only thing I have left to take care of is getting a bed. I didn't want to drive with a trailer in the weather, or worry about storing it up here, so I decided I was only going to take what could fit into my car.
I got a twin bed when I was a freshman because I had the smallest room in the house and I wanted to maximize my room space. I was certain it would fit into the back of my HHR. That was until I attempted to put it into my car and discovered I was about four inches from being correct. I'm not sure how I could have been off by so much, I thought for sure I had moved it in my car at some point in one of my many other moves up here and back down there.
Last night I set up unpacked and hung up my posters and pictures on my wall. I just threw down my blankets and dug out my sleeping bag and called it good. My plan is to figure out a solution to my bed situation in the next couple of days, though, I've spent the day in my P.J.s adding photos from South America to facebook and watching TV. I'm not sure when I'll actually get up and get stuff done today. I have a few days to kill up here, I am not going to meet with the lady I'll be interning for until Friday.
Last night I had to run to WinCo to get something and it hit me as I left the parking lot, "I'm really in Moscow." The coolest thing about living here is I already know where everything is. How often do you move to a new town and know where everything is? Yes, it helps having lived here already for two years...
I haven't blogged on here lately because I can only write so much a day and most of that time was spent writing news stories while I was at the paper. I hadn't decided whether or not I was going to keep blogging or not when I left town. Then I realized on the drive up here, I can blog about the things I do here and the people I meet and the chances of them reading is decrease drastically as opposed to blogging about people I meet in Mountain Home while I lived and worked there.
