  • Robert:

You broke no man codes being at a baby shower. Many are held now for both parents because it is such a special event. My husband and I went to one where we were both invited. The husband got to open most of the gifts (I believe so he would have to ask his wife "what is this and what does it do"). It is pretty cool that you were able to go. Good for you.

As far as a gift for sis, ask you mom what she wants/needs. It is always nice to throw in a gift just for mom as well so she can pamper (no pun intended) herself on those days when she is very tired and just needs a moment. You will do fine on the gift. You have a big heart. Good luck uncle Robert!

  • Write the baby a 'letter' telling her all about your sister (the good stuff!), and write a letter to your sister telling her why you think she's going to be a great mom. Mushy stuff like that always gets gold stars. If you want to be more practical, get your sister a gift certificate for a fabulous prenatal massage (one of my favorite gifts) and a huge basket of baby necessities like newborn and size 1 diapers, baby wipes, baby washcloths. As you already know, babies get LOTS of clothes, but it's these little essentials that moms really appreciate not having to run out and purchase. Congrats on becoming an uncle!!

Being a first time gramma and TOTALLY in love with shoes, of course my little granddaughter does not lack in this department. Even to the point where my son-in-law groans when he hears his crazy mother-in-law say, "WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT I FOUND FOR ALEXIS!", because he knows exactly what gramma found for Alexis! hehe

It's mathematically impossible for a woman to have "enough" shoes.

    Just a suggestion ;-)

  • Robert, as a mother and grandma I couldn't agree more with just1. Just1 is so right. Get some bag balm. Get a couple of them. Don't worry about what the can says it is for. Just get it. I used it and each of my kids did also. A must have for those little bottoms. Best stuff I ever used. And I thought I was the only one. Good suggestoin just1. So cool.
