The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
The worse disguise ever (special thanks to Spencer Taylor for getting arrested).
Spencer Taylor (no relation, but I did send him a facebook friend request) was arrested Sunday for trying to steal "The Dark Knight" movie posters and other memorabilia from a movie theater.
The problem with most criminals is that most of the people who are stupid enough to think that breaking the law is a good idea are not smart enough to figure out how to do it and get away with it.
For example, this guy was dressed as the Joker.
This has to be one of the worse disguises of all time. This guy looks nothing like the real Joker.
I'm not into organized crime by any means, but 80 percent of the time, if you act/look like you know what you are doing, people won't ask questions. They just assume anyone with the balls to walk into a movie theater and start taking down posters is just doing their job. Better yet, they may not even notice.
However, if you walk into a movie theater with paint all over your face dressed like the Joker, people are going to notice. They are going to want to ask questions. If you start stealing stuff, they are going to think you're crazy and call the police. The police will come, arrest you, take you down to the station, make you pose for a mug shot with your Joker mask on for no other reason than to show their friends how stupid you are, make you wash your face and then take another mug shot. They are also going to charge you with felony larceny and malicious destruction of property.
If you think dressing up like a movie character to steal some free stuff is a good idea, be sure to learn from Spencer Taylor's mistakes and not make the same ones he did.
First of all, pick a character that has the same body type as you. Spencer looks like the type of guy I could take in a fight. At 5'11" and 145 pounds, I don't get to make that statement very much. When you were watching "The Dark Knight," did you ever think, "I bet I can take the Joker?"
Second, if the guy you're trying to be like has long, crazy, green hair. You too should have long, crazy, green hair. Not medium-long black hair with a can of green spray hair dye in it.
Third, make sure your outfit closely matches the characters and doesn't look like something you recently picked up at the Salvation Army.
Fourth, don't put so much white paint on your forehead when you can clearly see the wrinkles on the real Joker's face.
Fifth, pick a character to imitate who's still alive. No one is ever going to see a guy dressed up as the Joker and think, "Hey look, there goes Heath Ledger."
Speaking of the late Ledger, if you haven't seen "The Dark Knight" yet, he alone makes the price of admission worth it. And you don't have to worry about me spoiling the ending for you. I honestly don't know how it ends. I went to the midnight opening show and dozed off sometime around 2:20 a.m. But what I do know is that he did an awesome job in the movie and far out-acted everyone else on the screen. Imagine if you went to watch a pick up basketball game at the local YMCA (now imagine we have a YMCA) and Kobe Bryant happened to be playing. He'd definitely stand out on the court amongst everyone else and look really, really good. Heath Ledger was that good.
