The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
Kanab, Utah, just might be the stupidest town in America (and proof that not all of Fox News' staff are useless)
A few weeks ago, a story we ran caused a brief stir in town when we announced there weren't any rules prohibiting anyone from burring a dead relative, or anyone for that matter, on their property.
The city council is expected to put a stop to that at the next meeting.
The day after our city puts this issue to rest, the city of Kanab, Utah, is expected to deal with a city ordinance that has caused a great deal of reaction in its city.
Because of an oversight I wasn't able to fully make sense of, the city council made it illegal to wear bikinis at the city pool.
The city will most likely change the rule and allow bikinis and Speedos to be worn.
However, the pool won't be open for anything goes as City Councilwoman Nina Laycook is going to push for a ban against string bikinis and thongs.
No one's really sure why she won't take the ban one step further and extend the ban to Speedos because, really, who wants to see a guy walking around in a tighter, spandex version of whitie-tighties?
(Check out this advice: Here's something for any gentleman who may be reading this: If you look good in a Speedo, you will look even better in virtually any other kind of swimsuit. http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/06/05/o.kogan.tells.all/index.html?iref=... )
If the town of Kanab sounds familiar to you, it's because you've either driven through Utah or remember the headlines the town made in 2006 when the same council passed a resolution favoring the "natural family" to favor a bread-winning husband, a stay-at home wife and a "full quiver of children."
To comply with this resolution, council meetings are probably held in Laycook's basement. However, that report couldn't be confirmed.
In defiance of the ban and the resolution, be sure to take a few minutes and check out these links to pictures of bikini-wearing women who've made their living outside of their homes.
