The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
I'm not homeless, I swear
I've been talking about riding my bike to work for a while. A few weeks ago, I decided to fix my bike and start riding it to work.
I find riding my bike to work to be quite enjoyable.
The office is only about an eight-minute ride from my house and the weather has been great the last few weeks. I've also had the chance to notice a lot more going on around me than I normally do driving around in my car rocking out to whatever country song is on.
As an added bonus, I sneak in about 90 minutes of physical activity a week into my schedule, and all I am doing is going to work and back.
When I first started riding to work, a few people asked me what was wrong with my car of if the high prices of gas had anything to do with it.
My car is fine, it's even got a full tank of gas at the moment, I just like riding because it's enjoyable, good for the environment and good for me.
For my annual training in the guard this year, I'll be spending two weeks in Washington living out of my ruck sack and marching around all day.
I decided the best thing to do was start preparing for this now. For the last three weeks or so,at least once a week, I've loaded up my ruck sack, grabbed a MP3 player and hit the road.
So, if you see me out marching around (and probably texting at the same time), I'm just getting in some good ol' Army training in.
I'm not homeless, I swear.
